BBOP FAQs

Who is BBOP?

Bedford Band and Orchestra Parents is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that supports the instrumental music program, physically, emotionally, and financially in the Bedford City School District.

What does BBOP do?

Our fundraising efforts support instrument repairs, scholarships, band and orchestra shows, music competitions, field trips, band camp, and much more!

If your student is in instrumental music classes at Heskett or Bedford High School, you are automatically a member of BBOP. Some of the BBOP fundraising campaigns help you and your student earn money for your student’s personal band account, which can be used to pay for band camp, field trips, fees, reeds, oil, other supplies, etc.

BBOP and PTA work together to run the concession stand at Bearcat Stadium during football season and share the profits. Check out the Concession Stand page for more information.

BBOP member support includes serving as chaperones for band and orchestra activities and music field trips.
During marching band season, BBOP members provide a wide range of support during football games. These include on-field support, refreshments for the band and visiting band members, event table support, and concession stand support.

Throughout the year, BBOP is present at school and community events including Open House, Conferences, the Memorial Day parade, and the 4th of July parade. Students can earn community service hours in various ways working with BBOP.

Where and when does BBOP meet?

BBOP meetings are held at 7:00 in the High School SLGI room every 3rd Monday of the month from Sept-April.  If school is closed on that Monday, the meeting is held on Tuesday.

During the pandemic, meetings have been remote. Please check before the meeting to see if it is in-person or remote.
